So I’m going to flip things around from now on and put the chart at the top and then whatever strategies I am trying out.
Woohoo! I got a new high pageviews today for Cactus Haiku. And I’m already half way to the goal of 108 pageview in one day.
So let’s see how I did yesterday (Monday) compared to previous Mondays:
|pinterest referred*||1 / 1||3 / 3||— / 2||— / 0|
|facebook referred*||3 / 10||2 / 2||— / 1||— / 0|
|wordpress referred*||5 /3||0 / 0||— / 1||–/ 0|
*pinterest, facebook, wordpress are showing google anayltics stats / wp stats (since I only signed up for google analytics this week, there are not stats for prior weeks for GA)
**I have set up google analytics to minus my own ip so that it doesn’t get added into the numbers
I am also happy that I got likes from a wider range of people:
I had only had 2 followers after spinning off Cactus Haiku. After I started this challenge, I gained 2 on October 6th and daily gained more. I was up to 9 on the 8th. On the 9th, I have gained 3 more! So I am up to 12! Saying I gained 10 followers in 4 days may not seem like much to some folks but when you realize I increase 500%, that’s a lot. My new followers on October 9th:
Photogate has this amazing b&w moon photograph up — the moon is so close you feel like you are seeing it through a spaceship’s window.
Strategy 3: Pinterest Group Boards
Strategy 4: Facebook Group Pages
As I said above, I didn’t post to the groups today. But I did receive comments and like within one group, Haiku & Senryu Garden, on the two I posted the day before yesterday. On that group, I am waiting for someone else to post before I post my next one.
The other group, Senryu & Kyoka, I posted the same two poems but got no response. I post with an image. The others post just text so it might be they like text only. Several people in the group post a lot so I’ll try posting two more tomorrow and see how it goes.
Strategy 5: Medium Publication Pages
I joined Medium and signed up for the Haiku Hub Publication. I submitted my Witty senryu. I had some concerns that it would not be accepted since it had already been published on Cactus Haiku but I picked someone without a long essay attached.
Yesterday they accepted Witty into the Haiku Hub Publication so that’s cool. Two people have clapped for Witty.
I’m not so sure that Medium is a good spot for me to do outreach as it’s more nonfiction articles and they prefer exclusive content. The readers might also tend to stay within Medium as it works well with phone apps.
Medium does have this nice system where if you join as a member for $5 a month, you can choose which writers you want some of that $5 to go to among those you have clapped for. You can also clap more than once for the same bit of writing. I’m all for rewarding the writer.
I received 10 likes today which is quite a bit for me. Here’s a quick clap for these likers. Photogate aka Rebel Girl’s comment “You have a very unique blog. I love it!” made my day!
So what improved:
- Gained 3 followers on October 9th.
- Highest pageviews since Cactus Haiku started
- Likes almost double over highest of the last 3 weeks (surprised me to get 10 today. That’s 3 days in a row they’ve been 8 or above. As you can see before I did the challenge, most days I was running between 0-6. I don’t think I’ll do as well tomorrow though as I think people have caught up)
- Facebook referrals higher than last 3 Sundays. Google Analytics say 3 referred; WordPress says 10. Either way I’ll take it.
- WordPress referrals are up over last 3 Sundays.
- Pinterest 1 pin, Facebook a few likes and comments in one group.
I noticed when I look at my poems, as I have a widget that shows on the page the facebook shares, that some of them are picking up shares. Witty had 6 which surprised me. Yes, I know, not going viral anytime soon but it’s cool that people are sharing the haiku.
