Double Pageview Challenge : Day 9&10 for spinoff Cactus Haiku
Day 9 & 10,
I hit 83 views. On Monday, I hit New highest pageviews and visitors! Sunday highest Pinterest referrals (GA stats, WP stats show 3),
At this rate, I think the challenge will be finished this week when I hit 100. I am very happy but happier still that I found three new haiku challenge blog sites.
Yellow days are since starting the challenge.

*pinterest, facebook are showing google anayltics stats / wp stats (since I only signed up for google analytics this week, there are not stats for prior weeks for GA)
**GA doesn’t show wordpress in the socials stats so this is only from wordpress stats
***I have set up google analytics to minus my own ip so that it doesn’t get added into the numbers
No new followers on Sunday. Three new followers on Monday.
Strategy 7: Challenges
Found two new haiku and a haibun challenges on Sunday and Monday which were a lot of fun:
Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille, October 11th 2017, Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie
He first shares a haiku from a classical master and then asks you to create a haiku inspired by that poem. This week’s poem is a lovely one by Mizuhara Shuoshi
Lake & Calm
RonovanWrite’s Weekly Haiku Challenge
Ronovan puts out 2 words each week and challenges you to write a haiku using both words
dVerse Poet’s Pub
Bjorn gives you a word and then asks you to write a Haibun. Haibun was new for me. It is a bit of writing with the haiku usually in the first-person from direct experience. Basho would write a paragraph or two about the place he was at and then the haiku as he walked across Japan. Very cool concept.
I’m so happy, people are actually writing cat haikus and putting them in the comments. So far there are three! What is interesting to me is that they come from different places. One is a wordpress blogger, one posts in the facebook group, and one is a Second Life friend of mine who doesn’t blog or do social networks who wrote a tanka and shared a picture of his cat getting scared of the duster. Blogger 25more shared a cat haiku from her blog with her cat’s photo.
I received 11 wordpress likes on Sunday and 22 on Monday. Here is my happy applause for the people who liked me on the 15th &16th.
So what improved?
The orange is Monday 10/16 and you can see I have a new high pageviews and visitors.
I’ve noticed when you try different things, doors open so that your path shifts. I started this blog and then when I found the Daily Prompts, I started writing haiku. Haiku was not something I planned to do. The path opened.
Then I decided I’d like to improve my pageviews because they were pretty awful when I first spun off Cactus Haiku and a week of that and social networks have made my pages jump 50%. But in doing that, I am reading more blogs because I like to read people who “liked” me and I’ve come across other haiku and photo prompts/challenges.
That’s one of the coolest things about WordPress is that you can easily visit other people’s blogs once they’ve liked or followed you. So I’m reading more haiku, senryu and tanka and seeing more photography.
Also I like putting my poems on images so taking more pictures but also using more copyright images due to the increased number of poems I am writing. So I feel like this feeds the right and left side of my brain. I feel happy. Writing haiku, working with images, gives me a lift at the start of the day.
And as the bunny says, “That’s all folks!”
